5-LAYER COEXTRUSION

5-layer PE tubes and the EVOH barrier layer

A 5-layer coextruded PE tube forms multiple functional layers in one continuous extrusion. EVOH is not a separate product; it is a barrier material positioned in the middle when the formula and protection requirements call for it.

  2. Adhesive layerSupports bonding between PE and the barrier layer
  3. EVOH barrier layerUsed to reduce permeation of oxygen, gases, and aroma components

PE TUBE PROCESS

How a PE tube is made

  1. Material preparationPrepare materials for the target specification.
  2. 5-layer coextrusionForm the continuous tube body.
  3. PrintingPrepare the surface and apply the design.
  4. Neck injection moldingForm the shoulder and neck on the tube body.
  5. Decoration and cappingApply stamping or sealing and fit the cap as required.
  6. Inspection and packagingInspect to the process criteria and package the finished tubes.

Is EVOH a separate tube product?

No. EVOH is a barrier material that can be used in the middle of a 5-layer PE tube structure.

Are all PE tubes made with five layers?

The structure depends on the product and protection requirements. We review the formula and target specification before recommending a structure.

Which diameters and shapes are available?

The current published range is Ø16, 19, 22, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 60 mm in round and oval shapes.
